Getting the Visum

30.3.'18

On wednesday Anton and me went to Frankfurt to apply for the E2-Visa.

We paid a visit to the Senckenberg museum, which shows animals from all over the world. Anton was excited about prehistoric skeletons. The technical setup of a volcano, a model of the solar system were pretty amazing. In some other room, we saw the human fetus, evolving over the nine months, quite graphic!

We tried a Limebike to get to hotel, as the distance was a bit far for Anton. Just managed to download the App and unlock a bike, before my phone battery was up.

Next day we got up early, rushed to the railway station, searched for U-Bahn entry, to find it closed by barriers. Officers explained to us, public transport was on strike. So we fetched a taxi, with a pretty friendly driver, who skipped some red lights. At the consulate we arrived just in time 9 a.m.

It took us merely an hour to get through (I was instructed to plan for 3 hours). At the first counter we had to put the documents in a new order, although they were pre-ordered by the attorney helping for the VISA process. At the third counter the interview took place. Several questions about work topic, why especially I am needed in California. Also some technical questions, e.g. "What is an ECU"?

We walked back. As the consulate allows no items except of documents, we had placed our baggage in lockers at FFM main station. Also the iphone, so we had to find our way "traditionally". We were accompanied by a guy from Pasadena. He hided his private stuff in a park opposite to the consulate. He was in a hurry to catch his train, so we helped him to find the main station in time.

The passport with VISA came by post exactly 1 week later.
